Macy Groulx was born and raised in Kirkland Lake, Ontario. After graduating from KLDCS she went on to study Social Work and Psychology at Laurentian University and Nipissing University, but is currently taking a break from her studies to focus on other parts of her life, as well as raise her family. She discovered her love for dance at the age of ten after taking a beginner dance class through JSANO. All through middle school, as well as high school, she danced with Kabaret, JSANO, Paula Davies School of Dance in New Liskeard, and Pulse Dance and Fitness Studio, giving her twelve years of dance experience. Although she took a short break from dance for two years while attending university, she did not hesitate to jump right back in after returning to Kirkland Lake in the fall of 2013. Macy has not only danced in multiple Kabaret productions during the Kirkland Lake Winter Carnival, school assemblies and shows, but has also choreographed for a number of them as well. Macy comes from a very encouraging and supportive family who never stop her from going after the things she wants, no matter how crazy they may seem. This is her second year teaching with Pulse, and she is looking forward to an amazing upcoming season with new and returning students. Her main goal for this year of dance is to push her students to the limit to help them achieve greatness. “Great dancers are not great because of their technique, they are great because of their passion”, Martha Graham..
